Kudos to Microsoft for landing another talented African American Software Engineer, Rodrick Blanton, at the latest HBCU CONNECT Hiring event hosted virtually in August of 2020.
Microsoft has hit it's stride with regard to consistently landing Black tech talent thanks to a 10 year relationship with HBCU Alumni Megasite, HBCUConnect.com.
Rodrick, a Sr. Software Engineer and Prairie View A&M University graduate (an HBCU), attended the HBCU CONNECT Hiring Event with an open mind, curious to learn more about the specific team at Microsoft that was hosting the event along with HBCU CONNECT.
Shortly after the HBCU CONNECT organized event, recruiters reached out to Rodrick to discuss his experience and a possible fit with Microsoft.

I thought I'd reach out and let you know that I have now signed an offer letter with Microsoft! I'm undergoing my background search now and expect to start remotely over the next couple of months with a move to Redmond, WA after the new year.
This would not have happened if not for you and what you're doing with HBCU CONNECT. I have dreamt of working for Microsoft for years but never applied. I just didn't believe it would happen. So, I'm grateful to you for reaching out and providing the slightest push in the right direction. I'll practically be starting at the bottom but my foot is in the door and the opportunities are endless. So, again, thank you.
