What's the polar opposite of a smash and grab?
Surveillance video from a recently opened store on Route 23 is making the rounds after a group of young men entered after closing time, taking a number of goods before — well, paying for them and leaving quietly.
Turns out a malfunctioning door lock left Buddy's Small Lots open after closing time Sunday night, and News 12 reports that management got the call from police that there'd been a break-in.
But nothing was out of place, and when they reviewed the security tapes, they saw the men enter the store, calling out for a clerk who never came before leaving money on the counter for the batteries and sunglasses they took.
The store is asking the men to come forward so they can thank them for their honesty with gift certificates.
