Ex-Thunder player Mason to open art studio in OKC (304 hits)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Former NBA player Desmond Mason has won a competition that will help him establish an art studio in Oklahoma City's MidTown district.
The competition organized by MidTown Renaissance had been designed to bring more retail outlets into the district just north of downtown. As the winner, Mason will receive free rent for the first of a three-year lease at Plaza Court and one year of free membership with the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber.

MidTown Renaissance developer Mickey Clagg tells The Oklahoman that Mason "brings exactly the type of creative retail presence" officials wanted to attract through the competition.

Mason, a former Oklahoma State standout, played 10 seasons in the NBA. He spent time with the New Orleans Hornets during their two-year stay in Oklahoma City and later played for the Oklahoma City Thunder
