Chattanooga’s own Shadow May beat out artists from across the Southeast to win the Best in Clay category at the Atlanta Arts Festival. The festival featured over 200 artists from around the country in different visual art categories.
This isn’t the first award for Mr. May this year, he received the Creative Clay Award at the Spring Tennessee Association of Craft Artists Spring Art Fair, Best Presentation Award at the Columbus Arts Festival in Ohio, and Honorable Mentions from around the country.
“Winning awards is always unexpected," said Mr. May. "This award really affirmed my hard work and passion for what I do. In these hard economic times an artist can really question himself….this award gave me the extra steam to keep pushing out new work."
Mr. May will be exhibiting next at the 51st Annual Tennessee Association of Craft Artists Fall Craft Fair Friday through Sunday in Nashville’s Centennial Park and at the 37th Annual Pink Palace Crafts Fair on Oct. 1-4 in Memphis.
