Klu Klux Klan and neo-Nazi members, who marched in Charlotte, North Carolina, were met by a counter-protest of clowns, who outnumbered the white supremacists 5 to 1 on Saturday (video below).
The KKK's chants of "white power" were countered with clown chants of "dwight power’ and "white flower," reports the Daily Mail.
Many of the clown protesters brought squeaky toys, whistles and horns to drown out the white supremacy speeches.
Lacey Williams, the youth coordinator for Charlotte’s Latin American Coalition, told NBC Charlotte: "The message from us is, you look silly. We're dressed like clowns and you're the ones that look funny."
John Autry, a city council member, came to the event wearing a red clown nose: "We're just a great big happy melting pot. I just wanted to come out here and make sure people understood that I did not support the views of the people behind up here with the microphones."
Barricades separated the white supremacist speakers from the clowns who came to mock them.
After two hours of speeches, the KKK and neo-Nazis left under a police escort.
